Edinburgh’s West End BID have teamed up Police Scotland and the Scottish Business Resilience Centre (https://www.sbrcentre.co.uk/) to bring you an informative event on how to protect your business both physically and from cyber-attacks. This is a timely event given the potential cyber-attacks that are being discussed in the national press at the moment, and also presents a good opportunity for businesses to directly engage with Police Scotland.

5.45pm Registration and Refreshments

6.00pm Police Scotland (PC Bruce Burt and PC Susan Purnell): Practical Guidance on Business Security from Police Scotland and policing issues in the West End.

6.30pm Stewart Denny (Scottish Business Resilience Centre): Key considerations for keeping your business cyber safe. Stewart will present on cyber security issues with an interactive workshop to take you through the steps that a business would need to consider in case of a breach.

The Scenario : a “Wannacry” incident, simple encryption of files where the computer is requested to send bitcoins to release the encrypted files. Each group will be required to consider how they will respond, what they will do next and what they need to consider rectifying the situation.

7.45pm The meeting will close but this is also an opportunity to network with other businesses, speak to the Speakers and feed back to the BID about what else we can do to help.
