This weeks #WestEnder is Paul Rees, lead pastor at Charlotte Chapel, who have just moved to the church on the corner of Shandwick Place and Stafford Street.
Paul told us “our first Sunday in the new church will be this Sunday and our morning service is at 10:30 am. We’d love to welcome you to tell you more about what we believe and what goes on at our church. We’re excited about getting to know our new neighbours – both the businesses and residents.
We currently have just under 600 members and around 800 people coming to our morning and evening services each Sunday.
We’ve got lots going on for families, children, students, internationals, women and men of all ages, bible studies in the church and in homes around the city. We’ve got a week of events running from 11-19th June when we hope as many people as possible will pop in to meet us and see round the new building. We’ve spent just under £2 million refurbishing it to give us a flexible space for our many ministries.
Our church in Rose St was no longer fit for purpose. We’d run out of space for many of our activities like Sunday School, the Rainbows, Beavers, Scouts and Guides on a Friday, our International Fellowship and Young Adult programmes. This gives us a lot more options for the spaces they can use as well as room for growth.
We are excited to be in the West End because the location is so prominent. We’re excited about the opportunity to be a more visible part of the city centre community and to be able to continue to share the good news about Jesus with people who call Edinburgh home or have come to our beautiful city to work or study.
We haven’t moved too far so there’s lots that’s already reassuringly familiar. We love the coffees from Brew Lab Coffee and Nikki’s!
